1 SECOND TEST

1 SECOND TEST measures how many times you can press the spacebar in 1 second.

Use this spacebar clicker test to estimate clicks per second (CPS), track improvement, and compare your speed on a a quick burst timer.

This page is specific to the 1-second mode, so your score and CPS math below use 1 second.

How the counter works?

Select 1 SECOND TEST from the Select Time list, then press the spacebar as fast as you can until the timer ends.

Each valid key press increases your score by 1. Try to keep the key travel short and consistent for cleaner repeats.

  • Keep your finger centered on the spacebar to reduce sideways movement.
  • Fully release the key between presses so the next press is registered.
  • If you miss a press, reset your rhythm instead of mashing harder.

How scoring is calculated?

Your score is the total registered spacebar presses during 1 second.

Estimated CPS is score divided by 1. For example, 7 presses in 1s equals 7.0 CPS.

  • Higher CPS means faster repeat presses within the same time window.
  • Accuracy here is about registration, not typing correctness, so clean press and release matters.

Tips to increase your score

1-second runs reward pure burst speed and reaction time. Focus on consistency that fits this timer length.

  • Start with a decisive first press and immediately lock into your fastest repeat.
  • Use minimal force: actuate and release quickly for reliable repeats.
  • Practice short bursts in sets of 3 to 5 attempts, resting your hand between tries.

When to use this test?

Use 1 SECOND TEST when you want a fast benchmark for short sprint tapping.

It is also useful for comparing results across devices or keyboards because the timer is fixed at 1 seconds.

  • Testing gaming key repeat speed and finger control
  • Tracking weekly improvement in CPS
  • Comparing different keyboards or switches for repeat tapping
